Foreigners can now register other persons in their apartments.

The Federal Law dated June 8th, 2020 No. 182 FZ “On Amendments to the Federal Law “On Migration Registration of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Russian Federation” was published.

• Foreign citizens who have housing in the Russian Federation will be able to register citizens from other countries;

• A foreigner can provide a notarized power of attorney if the owner of the apartment is outside of Russia;

• The application for registration at the place of residence is submitted personally or through the Portal of Public Services in electronic form;

• Deregistration from the previous place of stay is not carried out when staying in a hotel,  sanatorium, rest house, camping, tourist base;

• When submitting in electronic form, the corresponding mark in the residence permit or in the passport is stamped within 1 working day following the day of receipt of the originals;

The federal law entered into force on September 7, 2020.
